The Cuban Italian

Similar to the Canadian "rum and coke", this mix of the Italian soda "Chinotto" is a little less sweet and a lot more flavorful.  Chinotto is made with the juice of the fruit of the myrtle leafed orange tree.  It's dark black in colour and bittersweet.  You can get it at the Italian Centre and other European specialty shops.  This cocktail is especially good with Havana Club's Ritual rum- not available in Canada as far as I know, but popular in Spain and of course, Cuba.

Ingredients

2 oz Havana Club Ritual Rum
6 oz Chinotto

Method

Pour rum over ice in a highball glass and garnish with lime or orange slice.

Accompaniments

Chips and dip
